How to care for natural latex

Natural latex is one of the lowest-maintenance materials you can sleep on. It resists dust mites, mould, and bacteria on its own, with no chemical treatment — so looking after it is mostly a few simple habits rather than hard work. Done right, a latex pillow holds its shape and freshness for years.

Everyday habits

  • Always use a pillowcase — it protects the cover from oils and sweat, and it's the easiest part to wash.
  • Air it out monthly: leave the pillow somewhere ventilated for an hour or two to keep it smelling neutral.
  • Keep it out of direct sunlight — UV light slowly breaks latex down, so don't leave it on a sunny windowsill or in a hot car.

Washing the cover

The cotton cover unzips and is machine-washable. Use a cool, gentle cycle and a mild detergent, then air-dry it — skip the tumble dryer, which can shrink the cotton. Make sure it's completely dry before you zip it back on.

Cleaning the latex core

The latex core should never go in the washing machine or dryer — the agitation and heat can tear the structure. For spills or marks, spot-clean instead: dab the spot with a cloth dampened in water and a little mild soap, press the moisture out with a dry towel, and let it air-dry completely before using it again.

  • Never machine-wash, tumble-dry, or wring the core.
  • Don't soak it — press water out gently instead.
  • Always dry it fully before use; trapped moisture is the one thing latex doesn't like.

What to expect over time

Natural latex softens very gradually with use — that's normal, not a fault. With the simple care above, expect years of support. Every pillow is also covered by a 2-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
